Multi-beneficiary statistical cooperation programme IPA 2022

The objective of the multi-beneficiary programmes is to continue improving the capacity of National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) and other statistical producers in the national statistical systems of the beneficiaries to provide high-quality data for evidence-based policy making and monitoring. At the same time, these programmes increase the capacities of the national statistical system to transmit the data to Eurostat, who will validate and disseminate the data if quality criteria are met.

The project’s main objectives are:

  • Upgrade and strengthen the statistical systems in the beneficiary countries and strengthen further the integration of the beneficiaries within the ESS.
  •  Improve the availability, reliability, timeliness, quality and comparability of statistical data in the beneficiary countries, which is essential for developing, implementing and monitoring of European policies (such as the Western Balkans Strategy, the Economic & Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, policy dialogues with Türkiye) and for the preparation of the partner countries for future EU membership.
  • Support the efforts in ensuring the professional independence of the National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) of the beneficiary countries and strengthen the governance role of NSIs as coordinators of the official statistical system, increasing the trust and confidence in official statistics by users.
  • Improve the efficiency of the NSSs in the beneficiary countries using modern and cost-effective methods for statistical production (as the use of administrative registers and other (new) data sources.
