Dejan Stankov, PhD, has been the Director-General of the State Statistical Office since August 2024. Prior to his appointment, he worked as Senior Advisor Analyst in the Statistics Department at the National Bank, responsible for external statistics. He has extensive experience in the field of official statistics, including as Deputy Director-General of the State Statistical Office. His professional career was enriched by a traineeship at Eurostat, as a young statistician in 2011.
Stankov holds a PhD in economics and is an adjunct professor in a group of subjects in the field of finance at the School of Business Economics and Management at University American College Skopje.
Stankov is a member of the High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations. He has participated in numerous statistical conferences, seminars, workshops and working group expert meetings organised within the European Statistical System, as well as in intensive training courses in the field of statistics organised by the International Monetary Fund.
