Meeting with the International Monetary Fund Mission

Several topics were discussed in the fields of national accounts, inflation, population and migration trends, business and social statistics, as well as the future activities of the Office for alignment with international statistical standards

On 13.02.2025, a meeting was held at the State Statistical Office between experts from the Office and representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from Washington.

Our country is part of the highest statistical data dissemination standard of the IMF – SDDS Plus, which is a proof of the quality of official statistical data. The SSO, as the coordinator of these activities, highly appreciates the cooperation with the IMF.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Director of the State Statistical Office, Dejan Stankov, PhD, informed the IMF representatives about the activities undertaken to strengthen the statistical system of the country. Director Stankov emphasised the importance of high-quality statistics in the process of creating development policies in the country. Several topics were discussed in the fields of national accounts, inflation, population and migration trends, business and social statistics, as well as the future activities of the Office for alignment with international statistical standards.

Cooperation with the IMF will continue in the future, with the aim of developing a modern and strong national statistical system compliant with the highest international statistical standards.
