The total fish catch in 2024 increased by 19.4% compared to 2023
In 2024 the total catch of fish was 2 475 tonnes and compared to 2023 increased by 19.4%.
Of the total catch, the share of coldwater fish catch was 69.7% and the warmwater fish catch was 30.3%.Compared to 2023, coldwater fish catch increased by 8.1% and warmwater fish catch increased by 57.1%.
In 2024 compared to 2023, an increase was observed in aquaculture production by 24.7%. Aquaculture production was 2 337 tones and of the total fish catch participated with 94.4%.
Compared to 2023, recreational fishing increased by 80.0% while commercial fishing decreased by 48.4%.
In 2024 were produced 95.5 million pieces of eggs and juvenile fish with a total weight of 994 828 kg, which compared to 2023 is a decrease of 21.1%.
Of the fish species, the rainbow trout was the most bred as a juvenile.
For fish farming, fishponds, pools and canals and cages were mostly used as facilities.
The number of employees in fish production in 2024 was 192, of which 163 were men.
In 2024, 9 538 people were engaged in recreational fishing, of which only 62 were women.
