Consumer Price Index and Retail Price Index, December 2025
Inflation in December 2025, compared to the previous month, was 0.4%
Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in December 2025, compared to November 2025, was 0.4%.
In 2025, in comparison with 2024, the Consumer Price Index increased by 4.1%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 3.6%.
The movement of the consumer price index in 2025 was different among individual consumption groups.
An increase in the indices was observed in all groups: Restaurants and hotels by 7.2%, Recreation and culture by 6.4%, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 5.9%, Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 5.2%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 4.6%, Miscellaneous goods and services by 3.7%, Clothing and footwear, Health by 3.1%, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 1.8%, Communications by 1.3%, Transport by 0.8% and Education by 0.1%.
The increase in inflation in December 2025, compared to November 2025, is the result of the increase in the consumer prices in the following groups: Transport by 5.8%, Recreation and culture by 0.8%, Health by 0.7%, Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.5%, Restaurants and hotels by 0.4%, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 0.2%, Miscellaneous goods and services, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 0.1%.
In December 2025, compared to November 2025, a decrease in the Consumer Price Index was registered in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.4%, Clothing and footwear by 0.2%.
The Consumer Price Index in the groups Education and Communications remained at the same level as in the previous month.
The Consumer Price Index in December 2025, compared to December 2024, increased by 4.1%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 3.7%.
The Retail Price Index in December 2025, compared to November 2025, was 101.9.
From January 2026, a methodological change will take effect in the Consumer Price Indices and the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices due to the entry into force of directly applicable EU regulations, binding on all EU Member States, as follows:
- The indices will be compiled according to the new European Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose, ЕCOICOP version 2 , aligned with the United Nations UN COICOP 2018 classification.
