Energy balances, 2023 - definitive data

In 2023, 63.2% of the Gross inland consumption was provided by imports

The Gross Inland Consumption in 2023 amounted to 2,707,695 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe). In the structure of this consumption, the largest shares were held by:
Petroleum products – 43.3%
Solid fuels – 30.0%
Gross primary production amounted to 942 472 toe, representing a decrease of 9.3% compared to 2022.
The largest decline was observed in lignite, with a drop of 19.3%, while the most significant increases were recorded in:
Solar electricity – increase of 369.6%
Hydropower – increase of 20.6%
Final energy consumption in 2023 was 1.793.862 toe, with energy distributed by sector as follows:
Transport – 44.9%
Households – 26.3%
Industry – 18.7%
Other sectors – 9.1%

Key takeaway

In 2023:

• The share of renewable electricity in gross electricity production is 32.2%, while in gross domestic electricity consumption it is 31.5%. 

• Electricity consumption in households is 1 640.8 KWh per capita.
