Energy balances, 2023, preliminary data
In 2023, 63.4% of the Gross inland consumption are provided by imports.
The Gross inland consumption in 2023 is 2 698 648 tons of oil equivalent (toe) and its structure is dominated by petroleum products with 42.8% and solid fuels with 30.2%.
Gross primary production is 936 031 toe and compared to 2022 it has decreased by 9.9%. The largest decrease of 19.8% was observed in lignite, while a significant increase in gross primary production was observed in solar electricity by 252.3% and hydropower by 20.6%.
In Final Energy Consumption, the largest share is from petroleum products, 55.6%.
Final energy consumption in 2023 amounts to 1,793,862 toe, consumed in: transport (45.2%), households (26.4%), industry (18.4%) and other sectors (10%).

• The share of renewable electricity in gross electricity production is 32.0 %, while in gross domestic electricity consumption it is 31.3%.
• Electricity consumption in households is 1 638.9 KWh per capita.
• The final consumption of petroleum products is 986 996 tons, compared to the population, each resident consumed 542 kg of petroleum products.
