Waste by section of economic activity, 2024

In 2024, the amount of generated waste decreased by 14.1% compared to 2022

A total of 1 200 thousand tonnes of waste were generated in 2024. Of the total generated waste, 75.2% was non-hazardous and 24.8% was hazardous waste. The greatest share of generated waste was from the section of Mining and quarrying, 550 thousand tonnes or 35.2%.  

In 2024, the total amount of treated waste was 1 161 thousand tonnes. The amount of waste delivered for recycling was 585 thousand tonnes. By the waste types  delivered for recycling, the greatest amount was from the category of Metallic wastes, mixed ferrous and non-ferrous, followed by Metallic wastes, ferrous, Paper and cardboard wastes and Plastic wastes. 

Of the total amount of generated waste, 39 thousand tonnes were stored waste.
