Museums and museum collections in the Republic of North Macedonia, 2024

Of the total 27 museums, according to the establisher, 19 are public (national) museums, 7 are public (local) museums and one is a private museum, while according to the subject 13 are general and 14 are specialised museums.

The number of museum visitors in 2024 was 289 767.

In 2024, the museums organised 95 custom exhibitions, of which 45 exhibitions were organised by general museums and 50 by specialised museums.

There were 186 935 inventoried exhibits in the museums, of which 23 480 were displayed in 2024.

The museum collections had 155 997 inventoried exhibits, with 18 701 on display. 

The data presented in this release were obtained from completed questionnaires for 2024, submitted by 27 museums and 35 museum collections.
