56th Session of the UN Statistical Commission – Highest decision-making body for international statistical activities
The overall theme of the session is "Better Data, Better Lives", and members of the Statistical Commission, among other things, discussed and adopted two resolutions, “System of National Accounts 2025” and “2030 World Population and Housing Census Programme”

The Director-General of the State Statistical Office, Mr. Dejan Stankov, took part in the 56th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, taking place in New York from 4 to 7 March 2025.
The Statistical Commission of the United Nations, which consists of the heads of national statistical institutes of member countries of the United Nations, is the highest authority of the international statistical system with decision-making rights on issues regarding international statistical activity, especially in setting statistical standards, developing concepts and methods and their implementation at the national and international level.
The overall theme of the session is "Better Data, Better Lives", and members of the Statistical Commission, among other things, discussed and adopted two resolutions, “System of National Accounts 2025” and “2030 World Population and Housing Census Programme”. Furthermore, a revised SDG indicators framework was also adopted.
Additionally, Mr. Stankov had an official meeting with the Director-General of Eurostat, Ms. Mariana Kotzeva, at which they discussed the intensifying of Eurostat's continuous support for the SSO and increasing the datasets that Eurostat publishes for our country. Mr. Stankov also had a bilateral meeting with the President of the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, Mr. Aron Kincses, where they confirmed the excellent cooperation between the two institutions, considered the possible statistical areas for expanding and improving the cooperation, as well as the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in the near future.
