Laeken poverty indicators, 2023

At-risk-of-poverty rate in 2023 was 22.2 %.

Based on the Survey on Income and Living Conditions, which is carried out in accordance with European Union recommendations, the State Statistical Office calculated Laeken poverty indicators for 2023. The source for poverty calculations is incomes, and the poverty threshold is defined at 60% of median equivalised income.

In 2023, the at-risk-of-poverty rate in the Republic of North Macedonia was 22.2%.

Analyzed by household types, the at-risk-of-poverty rate in households of two adults with two dependent children in 2023 was 17.8%. According to the most frequent activity status, the at-risk-of-poverty rate for employed persons was 8.4%, while for the pensioners it was 11.3%. The Gini coefficient (measure of income distribution inequality) was 30.3%.
