First Steering Committee meeting of the Twinning Project “Improving Quality and Comprehensiveness of Environmental and Health Statistics”
The project is funded by the European Union (EU) and is jointly implemented by the SSO and the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), in partnership with the Consortium for Information Systems (Consorzio per il Sistema Informativo - CSI Piemonte), the Energy Services Agency (Gestore Servizi Energetici - GSE) and the Italian Geographical Society (Società Geografica Italiana - SGI)

The first Steering Committee meeting of the Twinning Project “Improving Quality and Comprehensiveness of Environmental and Health Statistics” took place at the State Statistical Office (SSO) of the Republic of North Macedonia on the 5th of February, 2025.
The project is funded by the European Union (EU) and is jointly implemented by the SSO and the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), in partnership with the Consortium for Information Systems (Consorzio per il Sistema Informativo - CSI Piemonte), the Energy Services Agency (Gestore Servizi Energetici - GSE) and the Italian Geographical Society (Società Geografica Italiana - SGI).
The project’s main objective is to strengthen the capacity for the production and dissemination of environmental and health statistics. It is structured around two main pillars (components): Environmental and Agricultural Statistics (Component 1) and Health Statistics (Component 2). The implementation phase of the project lasts 24 months, starting from the 23rd of September 2024.
The Steering Committee meeting was held in hybrid mode and was attended by the SSO and Istat Project Leaders and Component Leaders, the Resident Twinning Adviser (RTA), the RTA counterpart and representatives from the European Delegation and all implementing partners.
The meeting provided an opportunity to present the first Quarterly Report, which outlines the activities carried out during the first quarter of the project. Additionally, the first Rolling Work Plan, collaboratively drafted by the Twinning partners and based on the findings of the preliminary assessment, was approved.
During the meeting, the partners expressed their mutual satisfaction with the successful start of the project, which brings together high-level expertise, experience and skills to achieve the project goals in a sustainable way.
