Workshop Held on "Statistics for Journalists"
The workshop presented news from the State Statistical Office and practical ways for journalistic reporting
On 29.04.2025, the "Statistics for Journalists" workshop was held, organized by the State Statistical Office, with the aim of strengthening the skills of the journalists in using and interpreting statistical data, as well as introducing them to novelties in the work of the Office.
The workshop was attended by journalists from various media, who had the opportunity to directly learn about the rebranding process of the State Statistical Office, the new website, as well as the new, improved and simplified way of presenting statistical releases.
The workshop was led by the Director of the State Statistical Office, Mr. Dejan Stankov, and employees from the Sector for Dissemination, with particular attention paid to the practical use of the MAKSTAT database, with specific examples and exercises for searching and processing data relevant to topics of public interest.
Participants received guidance on how to access data more easily, how to interpret it correctly, and how to integrate it clearly and concisely into their journalistic stories.
The event was assessed as very useful by the journalists present, who highlighted the importance of such initiatives for improving the visibility and accessibility of statistical data to the public.
The “Statistics for Journalists” workshop is part of the broader efforts of the State Statistical Office to open up to the media and strengthen public trust through modernization and active involvement of the statistical data users.
