In a pleasant and constructive atmosphere, a working meeting was held at the Regional Department of Statistics in Bitola between the Director of the State Statistical Office, Mr. Dejan Stankov, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden, H.E. Ola Sohlstrom.
The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize the Ambassador with the work of the regional departments and exchange experiences related to the cooperation between the State Statistical Office and Statistics Sweden, supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
The Ambassador was closely acquainted with the functioning of the regional departments of statistics - their role in data collection, direct communication with households and business entities, as well as their gradual inclusion in the production of statistical data.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing bilateral project with Statisticsl Sweden currently being implemented in the State Statistical Office, with a special focus on a modern approach, methodological improvement and digitalization of statistical processes. Director Stankov emphasized that the support from Statistics Sweden is a key factor in strengthening the institutional capacities necessary to support statistical production.
The usefulness of the previous cooperation with Statistics Sweden, including the exchange of good practices, mutual learning and strengthening of professional skills, was particularly emphasized. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing the partnership, with an emphasis on activities that will contribute to the further modernization of the national statistical system.
