The State Statistical Office (SSO) hosted Acad. Prof. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, PhD, and Prof. Marina Trpeska, PhD, as representatives of the Fiscal Council of the Republic of North Macedonia, who were welcomed by Dejan Stankov, PhD, Director of the SSO, on 27.03.2025

This visit is part of the Office's activities to improve statistical literacy among students

The overall theme of the session is "Better Data, Better Lives", and members of the Statistical Commission, among other things, discussed and adopted two resolutions, “System of National Accounts 2025” and “2030 World Population and Housing Census Programme”

With this partnership, better coordination and exchange of information between the institutions will be ensured, which will enable more efficient use of statistical data in academic research and education

The purpose of the meeting was to define activities that will increase the scope of cooperation between the State Statistical Office and the non-governmental sector, with a special emphasis on the scientific and research community

Several topics were discussed in the fields of national accounts, inflation, population and migration trends, business and social statistics, as well as the future activities of the Office for alignment with international statistical standards

The main focus of the meeting was the Sustainable Development Goals and the role that the State Statistical Office has in the country in this area. In the coming period, the possibilities of developing a platform for Sustainable Development will be considered

The Director of the Office, Dr. Dejan Stankov, expressed the readiness of the Office to cooperate with the Faculty of Security, especially since one of the priorities of the Office is to promote and increase the scope of cooperation with the academic community.

The project is funded by the European Union (EU) and is jointly implemented by the SSO and the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), in partnership with the Consortium for Information Systems (Consorzio per il Sistema Informativo - CSI Piemonte), the Energy Services Agency (Gestore Servizi Energetici - GSE) and the Italian Geographical Society (Società Geografica Italiana - SGI)

The Memorandum will enable better coordination between the two institutions, organisation of joint events with an emphasis on the alignment of statistical and accounting regulations and standards, as well as support in the process of high-quality financial reporting, with the aim of obtaining accurate, precise and comprehensive data that are subject to statistical analysis.
